Isotretinoin is used to treat severe cystic acne (also known as nodular acne) that has not responded to other treatment (e.g., benzoyl peroxide or clindamycin applied to the skin or tetracycline or minocycline taken by mouth).
Isotretinoin is primarily used as a treatment for severe acne. The most common adverse effects are a transient worsening of acne (lasting 2-3 weeks), dry lips (cheilitis), dry and fragile skin, and an increased susceptibility to sunburn.
As the retinoid, there are strong and fast proliferation inhibition and differentiation of skin gland cell function, effective on severe nodular cystic acne. The gastrointestinal absorption is better, while the local medication invalid. Other drugs used to treat invalid serious acne, cystic acne, acne conglobata, rosacea, ichthyosis, keratosis follicularis and pityriasis rubra pilaris and other skin diseases also have a certain effect.

Accutane, a.k.a. isotretinoin, is isomer of Vitamin A (13-cis-Vitamin A acid) which reduces the amount of oil released by sebaceous/oil glands in the skin. It is primarily used to treat moderate to severe acne, and to help the skin more rapidly renew itself.
Accutane comes in the form of 10, 20, and 40 mg gel capsules.
to make capsules,Inactive Ingredients: beeswax, butylated hydroxyanisole, edetate disodium, hydrogenated soybean oil flakes, hydrogenated vegetable oil, and soybean oil. Gelatin capsules contain glycerin and parabens (methyl and propyl), with the following dye systems: 10 mg iron oxide (red) and titanium dioxide; 20 mg FD&C Red No. 3, FD&C Blue No. 1, and titanium dioxide; 40 mg FD&C Yellow No. 6, D&C Yellow No. 10, and titanium dioxide
For bodybuilding/athletic purposes, androgenic side effects (those having to do with male sexual characteristics).
Accutane has been proven to successfully combat androgen-induced adverse skin-related side effects, such as excessive acne on the face, back and shoulders. The recommended dosage for athlete and bodybuilder purposes is a much lower dosed, once daily administration of 10-20 mg/day for 6-8 weeks which is both safe and effective.
Isotretinoin Side Effects
There are a host of Hoffman-La Roche cited major possible side effects associated with Accutane usage, including major depression, birth defects and suicide (related to a string of patient suicides). However, as a very low dose steroidal side effect combatant, one is far more likely to experience only mild to moderate drying of the skin, with temporarily mild suppression of HDL (good) cholesterol levels accompanied by slightly elevated triglyceride values.
